Ringette BC is seeking individuals who take initiative, problem solve quickly, and work well in a team environment. This individual should have a keen interest in Ringette. The ideal candidate will be a team player, with the ability to work independently, and has knowledge of skating techniques and skill progression, as well as teaching and/or coaching experience.

The BC Ringette Association doing business as “Ringette BC” is a progressive Provincial Sports Organization and registered non-profit society responsible for the administration, advancement and promotion of Ringette throughout the Province of British Columbia. Ringette BC represent more than three thousand members in 20 local associations around the province. We pride ourselves on being a well-managed, organized and respected amateur sport organization and continue to be a leader in sport both provincially and nationally.
Ringette BC works in partnership with local, regional, provincial and national ringette organizations and sport system providers to create a safe and inclusive sport participation environment for participations.

Job Description:

Part Time Gym Ringette & Come Try Ringette Instructor (on an as needed basis) Reporting to: Technical Coordinator

Job Purpose:
Ringette BC is seeking to fill several Gym Ringette & Come Try Ringette Instructor positions to support the delivery of Ringette Programs in the province. The instructor(s) will deliver Gym Ringette instruction to local schools, community centers and other community organizations, as well as lead Come Try Ringette sessions and community outreach initiatives for LSO’s and Ringette BC.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

The specific responsibilities of the Gym Ringette & Come Try Ringette Instructor are, but not limited to, the following:

Gym Ringette Program Delivery:

• Create and deliver age-appropriate Gym Ringette lessons to students and/or youth
• Introduce the fundamental skills of Ringette to students and youth ages K-G12
• Deliver fun, safe and engaging activities, that foster participation and inclusion
• Be an ambassador to the sport of Ringette, and a positive role model in the community

Come Try Ringette Program Delivery:

• Partner with local Ringette Associations to deliver Grass Roots Community Programming
• Work with LSOs to introduce children and youth to the sport of Ringette
• Facilitate a fun, engaging on-ice experience that showcases the fundamental skills of Ringette, including
skating, passing, shooting, checking, etc.
• Encourage participation and understanding of the sport of Ringette through the Teaching Games for
Understanding (TGFU) model Our Values: Community Focus, Integrity, Partnership, Respect and Sportsmanship
• Instructors should demonstrate professionalism, knowledge of Ringette, and be able to educate, and speakauthentically about Ringette to the community and participants and/or parents/guardians

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

• Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
• Resident of British Columbia
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Holds a valid BC Driver License, or ability to obtain their own source of transportation
• Completion of NCCP Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders (or completion upon hire)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Considerable knowledge of skating techniques and skill progressions
• Ability to motivate athletes/students, and provide a positive, safe and fun learning environment
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and work collaboratively with LSO and
PSO staff
• Some experience in customer service or public relations
• Some experience in event management
• Community recreation experience
• Having independent means of personal transportation is an asset
• NCCP Coach training and experience considered an asset
• Some experience with Social Media programs such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and website management.

• The applicant must pass a Criminal Record Check and vulnerable sector check as a condition of hiring.
